Dave Mills was raised in Maryland, and graduated from Frostburg State University. He was commissioned in the U.S. Army, spent 10 years serving his country, and met Ann along the way. He spent 8 years working in Corporate America, hated it, and finished a master’s degree and a PhD in history. He is extremely happy writing and teaching history, and is employed at Minnesota West Community and Technical College. Dave is the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship, and will spend spring semester of 2016 in Russia.
Ann Mills was raised in Waverly Minnesota, and graduated from the University of Minnesota in Morris and spent 25 years teaching high school biology. She met Dave in El Paso, Texas, and they married shortly thereafter. Ann has a master’s degree in Education Leadership from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a master’s degree in biology from the University of Nebraska, Kearney. She currently teaches biology at Minnesota West Community and Technical College, and thanks to administration at the college, she will be teaching entirely online for spring 2016, and will accompany Dave to Russia. Dave and Ann have 3 great kids: Sam, Joey, and Jacob.
Jacob Mills is 13 years old, and an 8th grader at Worthington Middle School. Jacob will be taking classes online, and his teachers have kindly agreed to work with him while he is in Russia. While he is gone, he will miss his cat, Penny, but his older brothers are staying home, and will keep an eye on her.
Sam Mills was born at Fort Riley, Kansas, and graduated from Worthington High School in 2013. He is in the process of completing his associate’s degree at Minnesota West Community and Technical College, and was recently (December 2015) promoted to shift supervisor at New Vision Coop. He will not be joining Ann, Dave, and Jake in Ufa, Russia, but will be keeping an eye on the homestead and taking care of the dogs and cats.
Joey Mills was born at Fort Bliss, Texas, and is also staying at home while his parents and brother are in Russia. He is also completing his associate’s degree at Minnesota West Community and Technical College while working a number of part-time jobs.
The dogs we have been writing about – on a very windy day.
